This was the first recovery tool for the PSP that we had before the launchement of Pandora, becuase it could access it in semi-bricks and unbrick it. Also this tool could make changes to the firmware,

Per Example: Change PSP Mhz Speed, Change the region of the PSP.

1.50 POC Recovery Mode[edit]

This was the first recovery menu, and helped lots of people out from semi-bricks. This menu is very limited and has only three options. This is a built in feature for 1.50 POC. To access it, completely shut down the PSP. Completely shut down the PSP, by holding the power button up, until the screen goes blank. Then hold the R trigger and switch the PSP on. Keep holding the R trigger, and hopefully you should be on a similiar screen to the at the top of this page. Then you can change whatever you wanted to.

2.71 SE/OE Recovery Mode[edit]

This is a built in feature for OE Firmware's and 2.71 SE. To access it, completely shut down the PSP. Completely shut down the PSP, by holding the power button up, until the screen goes blank. Then hold the R trigger and switch the PSP on. Keep holding the R trigger, and hopefully you should be on a similiar screen to the at the top of this page. Then you can change whatever you wanted to.

M33 Recovery Menu[edit]

This is a built in feature for M33 Firmware's. To access it, completely shut down the PSP. Completely shut down the PSP, by holding the power button up, until the screen goes blank. Then hold the R trigger and switch the PSP on. Keep holding the R trigger, and hopefully you should be on a similiar screen to the at the top of this page. Then you can change whatever you wanted to.

LE Recovery Menu[edit]

This is a recovery menu you can access on the XMB. It is made by Ketchup, and has lots of useful settings on it. This is not built in and you must download it from here(Works up to 3.90 M33). It has Pandora built in it, so you can build a Pandora's battery with it because it has the software.

To install copy the 'seplugins' folder in the root of your MS, it may ask you to overwrite and click yes. Then go into the Recovery Menu and enable it. To access it you must press the L trigger and the music note button near the bottom of your PSP. From then on you can change how you access it, and change lots more settings.

Semi-brick Unbricking[edit]

First Method[edit]

Go into the Recovery menu and go in Advanced Settings and press X on Format Flash1 and reset settings, if you think you're firmware files are messed. If still not recovered go into the flashx you might have been messing with, then delete it all, and copy the backup you have made. If you haven't made a back up, there might be some on the internet. Copy it, and try again. Hopefully it should work now.

Second Method[edit]

Download the latest version of Recovery Flash (1.32), a useful program created by Hellcat. Then download the 4.01 EBOOT. Turn on your PSP and hold R to go into the Recovery Menu. Select 'Toggle USB' and put the RECOVERY folder into GAME, and put the 4.01 EBOOT in RECOVERY. Then select 'Run Program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP'. The program will launch and it will give you several options. Select 'Flash new 4.01 M33-2'. Then just go through the guide, accept all the messages and warnings and hopefully when you restart your PSP it should be fully functional again.

Structure of the Lastest Recovery Menu[edit]

Toggle USB[edit]

- This allows access to your memory stick from recovery mode. (Press X to enable and disable USB mode).



Configuration ->[edit]

Skip Sony Logo - Skips the Start-up video and sound.

Hide corrupt icons - Hides corrupt data files that show under Game Menu.

Game folder homebrew - Lets you change the kernel for the /PSP/GAME folder between 1.50 and 3.xx kernels.

Autorun program at /PSP/GAME/BOOT/EBOOT.PBP - This allows you to boot up a homebrew application on start up rather then the XMB itself.

UMD Mode - This allows the emulation of UMD's using different drivers. (Enabling a driver allows you to play ISO/CSO games with no UMD in the Bay)

Fake Region - Lets you set a fake region on your PSP.

Free UMD Region - Enabling this will allow you to play all region UMD in the UMD Bay.

Hard Reset on Homebrew - When exiting Homebrew the PSP will turn off instead of booting to the XMB.

Use VshMenu - Enabling this will enable the VhsMenu which you can access in normal XMB mode by pressing the HOME button for 3.52 M33 (Select Button on 3.71 M33 or above). This allows you to change some of the settings without entering recovery mode. (CPU Clock speed Xmb/Game, USB Device, UMD MODE and ISO Video mount)

XMB Usb Device - This lets you change what the USB access when in XMB. (memory stick/flash 0,1,2,3/UMD Disc)

Charge Battery when USB cable plugged - This allows the PSP to charge whenever the PSP Slim is connected using USB.

Use M33 network update(3.80 M33 or lastest cf) - Network update from dark-alex.org page.This allows easy update of your custom firmware through wi-fi.

Hide PIC0.PNG and PIC1.PNG in game menu(3.80 M33-5 or latest) - when on This allows faster browse in XMB games.This setting only applies to any kind of apps/games (pbp, iso) that load from MS, but not to UMD’s.



Run Program at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP[edit]

- This allows you to boot into the RECOVERY folder you may or may not have in GAME. Programs like rflash have the name RECOVERY and will do things like a fresh new 4.01 M33 install, or restore the original Flash0. This method works on both Fat and Slims. But if the program installs a new 1.50, it will not work on slims.

Plain modules in UMD/ISO - This allows certain forms of unsigned code to be run from within an ISO/UMD. There aren't really any practical uses to this function, and it can make some UMDs and ISOs incompatible with your firmware. Developers can use this function to experiment with running homebrew from within an ISO/UMD.

Execute BOOT.BIN in UMD/ISO - This runs BOOT.BIN inside the ISO instead of EBOOT.BIN. Useless unless you're a developer experimenting with the Plain modules in UMD/ISO feature, you shouldn't use this feature; average users have no need to toggle this.




Toggle USB (flash0) - Allows access to flash0 (warning: If you don't know what your doing in flash0 then don't mess with it. You should always make a backup of flash0 incase you have problems installing CXMB themes)

' '(flash1) - Allows access to flash1

' '(flash2) - Allows access to flash2

' '(flash3) - Allows access to flash3

Format Flash1 and reset settings - This allows you to formats flash1 and reset settings. (You will loose your previous settings and will need to re-add them)


CPU Speed[edit]

Speed In XMB - Change Processor speed for XMB

Speed In UMD/ISO - Change Processor speed for UMD/ISO games.




Plugins[edit]

- Lets you disable/enable plugins.





Registry Hacks[edit]

Button Assign (O or X) - Here you can assign the ENTER button as O or X.

Activate WMA - This allows you to activate/play WMA files under MUSIC when in the XMB with out using Wi-Fi

Activate FlashPlayer - This allows you to Activate/Watch flash in the PSP Browser.




Exit[edit]

- Exit out of recovery to XMB
